Among the great American shoemakers, Alden Shoe Company stands apart. Since the beginning of Fortela, we have worked closely with Alden to develop a selection of exclusive styles, alongside a curated edit of their most enduring models. Each pair reflects a shared approach, one rooted in material, proportion, and time.

The Collection
Our Partnership
Our partnership with Alden Shoe Company is built on alignment, not collaboration for its own sake, but a shared devotion to our ways of making.
Together, we develop exclusive styles that reflect Fortela’s perspective, while remaining true to Alden’s identity. The result is a collection of footwear that feels natural within both worlds, grounded in heritage, material, and making, with a shared commitment to things that endure.
The Heritage
Founded in 1884 in Massachusetts by Charles H. Alden Alden remains one of the few shoemakers still producing in the United States. For generations, their work has been shaped by a commitment to craft over scale.
From military service shoes to icons of American style, Alden has built its reputation quietly, through consistency, not reinvention. Today, that same approach continues in their New England workshop.
Craftsmanship
Alden’s work begins with material. The iconic Shell cordovan from Horween Leather Company, dense, rich, and made to evolve with wear, remains one of their signatures. Alongside it, carefully selected calfskins and suedes are chosen for depth, texture, and durability. Each pair is shaped, stitched, and finished by hand, following methods refined over decades.
